For those of you who don’t know me, let me introduce myself. I have been a resident of Queen Anne’s County all my life. I was raised on a grain and beef farm with my parents, Temple and Pat Rhodes, along with my three sisters and brother, just west of Centreville. Agriculture is an important component of my life. My experience with 4-H, FFA, and LEAD has helped increase my knowledge about agriculture while developing and improving my people and leadership skills. Wanting to own my own farm to stay involved in agriculture; I purchased a four house poultry farm, north of Centreville. My two sons’, Chris (22 years old) and Ryan (20 years old), work with me on our farm and also with my father and brother on their farms. Both are currently enrolled in college and want to be farmers. My fiance' is Jeff Rathell, owner of Rathell Farm Equipment in Cordova. I was previously employed for the past ten years with the University of Maryland Cooperative Extension, Queen Anne’s County as the Nutrient Management Advisor while completing my education. In May 2002 I graduated from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with a B.S. in Agriculture and May 2006 with a M.E. in Agriculture and Extension Education. Thank you to all that completed my survey evaluating Queen Anne’s County Ag programs. This information has already helped me with my new profession.
I am very energized about my new job and looking forward to working with not only the agriculture sector but educating other community members about the county’s agriculture and natural resources. This position includes being not only the traditional Ag. Agent, but also becoming a tenured faculty member within the next five years. Tenure includes teaching, scholarship, and service on a county, regional, state and national level. I will be looking for your help to accomplish this task.
My office door will always be open, so please feel free to stop by, pick up the phone or email me if you have any problems, concern or ideas for new programs. It is a privilege for me to serve as your county Ag. Agent and I am looking forward to an exhilarating career. Congratulations to Paul Gunther… Many thanks to Paul for his many years of service to Queen Anne’s County.
By the way, come see me in my new digs...
