Maryland Connection to Education

The Queen Anne's County office of the Maryland Cooperative Extension offers University of Maryland educational programs to the residents of the county. Cooperative Extension is an unique educational organization involving a partnership between federal, state, and county governments designed to "educate people to help themselves." Queen Anne's County faculty strives to stimulate a positive learning change educating audiences in four critical areas: Agriculture & Natural Resources, Family & Consumer Science, 4-H & Youth  Development programs and Home Horticulture including the Master Gardeners programs. Unbiased research information is delivered to county residents through workshops, seminars, clinics, classes, newsletters and media efforts.

It is the policy of Maryland Cooperative Extension that no person shall be subjected to discrimination on the grounds of race, color, sex, religion, disability or national origin.

Seven programming initiatives are identified in our teaching efforts. These initiatives include:
  • Managing change in agriculture to enhance profitability and environmental quality
  • Improving food safety, diet, and optimal health
  • Promoting environmental stewardship and wise use of natural resources
  • Enabling local leaders and decision makers to achieve beneficial community outcomes
  • Building and sustaining the family and its resources
  • Improving aquatic resource production and stewardship
  • Enabling youth to reach their full potential as individuals and citizens
